NEW:3/1/26 VKCL Logger VHF/UHF FD Cabrillo Converter Version 2 by EMDRC, VK3ER.
NEW: Contest Terminology Explained. (Downloadable PDF)
In conjunction with DotEukali and Alan Shannon Computers & Cabling, we have developed a website to ease the load
for contest managers and log submitters alike. Since 2017 we have supported the Remembrance Day, Trans Tasman,
QRP Hours and the Harry Angel contest. In 2022 we added the Australia Day, VK Shires, Fists Down Under, and CQ Pride
Contests. To kick off 2025 the VHF/UHF Field Day contest was added. In February 2026 we gained the John Moyle Memorial
Field Day contest. In March 2026 a totally new version was introduced with many enhancements visually and a major
rewrite to the log checking process. A new improved submission screen was introduced with drop down lists to select
from if a Category was incorrect. Log checking conforms to all modern log checking site protocols and procedures.
After the log upload cutoff date, the logs are manually checked against the automated checking then finalised and
results are displayed as is statistics for each contest. Cabrillo Version 3 format is required and can be uploaded at

N1MM Logger UDC's by VK4SN, and RD Logger by VK5DJ now output required logs in Cabrillo V3.0.
VKCL Logger is NOT the preferred logger but is still good for the Remembrance Day, Trans Tasman,
and the Harry Angel contests. Other VK contests must output the .ADIF file and have it converted
by VK2PR's AIDF to Cabrillo converter designed for VK contests. Link on vklogchecker dot com.
Logs are cross checked against other submitted logs. QSO's are checked for:
1. duplicates - Where a call has been worked more than once within the contests specified time frame.
Takes into account time, mode, and band.
2. Exchanges - A station logging the incorrect exchange will lose points.
3. Frequency - A station logging the incorrect frequency will lose points. Some logs constantly
change frequency and it's impossible to see what the correct one should be so both stations lose points.
4. Not in Log - Where the other station does not log the QSO. Points are deducted from the station who
did log the contact as there is no proof to confirm the QSO.
5. Busted Call - Miss typed callsign. eg VKL5A
6. Unique Call - A call that appears only once in a log. Points are not deducted, however the call is
checked against the ACMA data base to confirm it's legitimate.
7. RS(T) - RS(T) is checked for format and values based on the mode.
8. Time of QSO - A grace period of 15 minutes is given.
9. QSO's containing calls from logs not submitted - no points are deducted.
Excellent band conditions on the weekend. I didn't put a lot of time in but what I
did was most enjoyable, especially into EU on 15 meters on Saturday and Sunday evening.
Here are two audio files - one for a very sweet organinsed run on Saturday night and one for Sunday night pileups.
